Career Guidance
“Career Guidance is committed to helping every student discover what is best for them and their future.”
The Career Guidance Unit at Ladies’ College supports students from Grade 9 onwards as they thoughtfully explore pathways beyond the Red Gates on Flower Road.
Students are provided access to Unifrog, an international career guidance platform that offers exposure to subjects, career pathways, and universities worldwide. Through Unifrog, students can track achievements, explore careers, complete short courses, and undertake psychometric assessments to better understand their interests, strengths, and preferred working environments.
The unit also maintains an intranet platform—Career Guidance at Ladies’ College—accessible via student’s Microsoft Teams account. This hub provides information on Advanced Level subject choices, university courses, scholarships in Sri Lanka and overseas, and guidance on applying to foreign universities.
Soft skills development is embedded in the Grade 12 curriculum, with dedicated class periods focusing on time management, financial literacy, personal safety, and wellbeing. Grade 13 students are further encouraged to participate in short-term internships during the August holidays, gaining valuable practical exposure to careers of interest.
Following the GCE Ordinary Level examinations, students take part in a structured Orientation Programme featuring career talks, workshops, life skills sessions, an outbound activity day, and a university visit.
An annual University Fair held in March/April brings together state, private, and foreign universities, while regular visits by international university representatives provide students and parents with opportunities for one-on-one consultations. Ladies’ College is a member of the IC3 Institute, the College Board, and is a certified SAT Test Centre.
At Ladies’ College, we believe every student is unique and precious. The Career Guidance Unit is committed to partnering with students and families to support confident, informed decisions for a successful future.
