The Ladies’ College Institute of Professional Studies (LCIPS) formerly known as the Department of Vocational Studies was established in 1981 by the late Mrs. Sirancee Gunawardana, former Principal of Ladies’ College.

LCIPS which is an institute within Ladies’ College was set up with a view to providing skills training to those students of Ladies’ College who did not wish to study at the Universities. Students were trained to follow job-oriented courses in the commercial and teaching fields.

Today the LCIPS caters to a wide cross section of society.

The courses on offer can be categorized in to Teacher Training Courses, Special Needs Education Courses, Secretarial Courses and Courses for Administrative Staff and Language Courses.

Children’s co-curricular and extra-curricular interests are met by the children’s programmes such as Piano Music, Elocution, Art, Hip Hop, Group Singing and Drama.

Adult interests are catered for by the leisure time courses which include Interior Design & Table Décor, Card Making, Taichi and much more.

Workshops are organized for schools and private sector firms on various themes.

Furthermore, fully air-conditioned classrooms and the hall which includes wifi and attached washroom facilities are available for hire on a daily/hourly basis.

The Faculty consists of a dedicated panel of lecturers and around 200 students who follow these courses.
