Little did we realize
the impact this one integral building has had on each of our lives …
Little did we understand
that this first-class concert hall built by Ms Simon in 1955 with excellent acoustics was the cradle of our imagination and creativity …
Little did we fathom
that this student-centric building would play such a central part in helping us evolve from diffident youngsters into confident young women equipped to face the world…
Little have we appreciated
how blessed we have been to have had our lives shaped by the beautiful memories and experiences this building has imprinted in our lives.
THE MABLE SIMON HALL
Our “Main Hall”, integral in the life of Ladies’ College students for nearly 70 years needs to be repaired and refurbished without delay. The costs of carrying out necessary work (some of it being urgent) are astronomical especially, in the present-day context that we are faced with in Sri Lanka.
Work to be carried out includes structural repairs and enhancements plus a much needed upgrade of the existing facilities (additional seating, upgrading sound and lights, etc.), without altering or affecting the aesthetics and acoustics of the Hall. The architectural and engineering team has advised that the work be carried out in two phases bearing in mind the costs and time factors – especially, considering that the Hall is such an integral part of our daily student life and activities.
We are confident that with the generous support of alumni, parents, well-wishers and through the special fundraising projects that are to be launched, that the amount needed could be collected expeditiously.
